How it's calculated
- Demand reduction (kW) = fixtures × sites × (existing watts − LED watts) ÷ 1,000
- Annual energy saved (kWh) = demand reduction × hours per day × days per week × 52
- Annual savings ($) = energy saved × your all-in electricity rate
- Simple payback (years) = installed cost ÷ annual savings
Use the wattage of the whole fixture (lamps plus ballast), not the lamp alone. In Ontario, the IESO's Save on Energy programs offer retrofit incentives for businesses — check eligibility before you order. Retrofits that involve wiring are electrical work for a licensed electrical contractor.

How do you calculate LED retrofit savings?
Multiply the watts saved per fixture by the number of fixtures and the annual operating hours to get kilowatt-hours saved, then multiply by your all-in electricity rate.
What's a typical payback on an LED retrofit?
It depends on operating hours, your electricity rate and the installed cost. Long-hours spaces such as retail sales floors usually pay back faster. Enter your quote to see your own payback.
